After a year and half hiatus from concertizing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SMFC returned to the stage at Taunton High School to perform some of the most whimsical arrangements the chorus has ever sung to an ever-appreciative audience.
Highlighting the concert was our commissioned arrangement of “A Marshmallow World with The Candy Man”, published by Shawnee Press and arranged by Mark Hayes, an American composer and arranger. Hayes has written numerous choral arrangements and has more than 1,000 publications. Our “brain child” arrangement blends two popular pieces, one from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory and the other first made famous by Bing Crosby, casting them into a choral holiday spotlight!
SMFC Bronze, the newest addition to the SMFC franchise and under a new name, performed “The Bells of St. Mary’s” and “Ring the Bells on Christmas Day”. Charlie Baird, Assistant Music Director and member of SMFC Bronze, says, “Our bell ringers add a distinctive sound to the production and there are so many ways to incorporate handbells into the program”.
